AppLift, a performance-based user acquisition network, started in 2012. But before launching, the Berlin-based company searched for a solution that was reliable from a product and technical perspective, as well as a team they could believe in. They chose TUNE because of the option to build on top of the API, without having to “reinvent the wheel.” It made sense for them to use TUNE for the key features that had already been developed so AppLift could focus their efforts on building unique functionalities—those that would differentiate them from the competition.
AppLift CEO and Co-Founder Tim Koschella stopped by at Postback ’15 to chat about their choice to pick TUNE.
They have been with TUNE since the beginning of their company. “When we first got in touch with HasOffers was early 2012, before we launched the business … And we felt we needed a partner that is reliable from both a product and technical perspective, as well as a team that we knew could grow the business and would be a long-term sustainable partner and HasOffers back then, rebranded to TUNE, was the best partner we could find on the market.”
Using TUNE gives AppLift the benefit of focusing engineering resources on creating features that make them stand out against in the industry. “Our goal was to not rebuild functionality that has already been developed or commoditized on the market. We wanted to focus our efforts on unique features, and the HasOffers platform allowed us to build on top of the API and to use the functionality that had been developed for the key features that we needed but they were not the differentiating factors in our business model … [TUNE] has allowed for us to focus on the innovation part for our specific business. To develop features in our CPI network that are unique to our platform. Has allowed us to focus engineers resources where we can make a difference with our business model.”
TUNE’s flexible 2-way API was important then and still is for AppLift. “I think the API is pretty important for us because we built a lot of systems around that import data and export data from the HasOffers platform. Basically, I think for us that’s a very important part of the decision back then and still is today.”
The dedicated account manager, 24/5 phone support and 24/7 email support TUNE provides has been key for AppLift’s success. “We have daily interactions with the support team. I think what we value a lot is that there’s a support team in the same time zone. TUNE has an office in both Israel, which is one hour difference, as well as Berlin more recently. I think that was a very important part for us to decide to partner up because as a lot of interaction happens day-to-day, being too far away in terms of time zones, make the communication very cumbersome, so we find that valuable.”
